If the Kansas City Chiefs are going to go where they want to go this postseason, they will be carried on the backs of the players who got them this far. The Chiefs stars are household names, and they are famous for good reason. That said, every postseason offers up a few surprises with heroes who seize the opportunity before them, and the Chiefs have a few solid candidates for those possibilities, too.

Let’s be clear: Patrick Mahomes is going to lead the Chiefs. In turn, he’s going to rely on offensive pillars (and future Pro Football Hall of Fame players) like tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The line is anchored on offense by Pro Bowler Orlando Brown Jr. and  Joe Thuney.

On the other side of the ball, Chris Jones and Frank Clark make the big bucks for good reason, while safety Tyrann Mathieu has a host of nicknames as it is.

Here are a few Kansas City Chiefs fans who have the potential to shock fans in their current postseason run.

But beyond the obvious, there are a few players waiting for their chance to surprise and even shock fans with the production they could provide. No one is saying these guys are heroes-in-waiting. In fact, we’d be as shocked as anyone if they did turn in game-changing performances.

However, each of these players is in a situation where the opportunity is in front of them and/or the team has made space on the roster for good reason. There’s an organizational belief in each player even if the fans do not (yet) and perhaps it’s the postseason that will allow one or more of them to truly flourish.

If they do, we will all be shocked.
