3. The Chiefs coach and quarterback combination
This is simply unquestioned, and anyone that disagrees is a jokester, a troll, or an ESPN analyst. The Chiefs undoubtedly have the best coach and quarterback combination in the AFC playoffs. It’s an easy argument to make for the conference, and it might be just as easy to make for the entire league.
Here are the coach and quarterback combos the Chiefs may potentially face:
- Tennessee Titans – Mike Vrabel, Ryan Tannehill
- Buffalo Bills – Sean McDermott, Josh Allen
- Cincinnati Bengals – Zac Taylor, Joe Burrow
- Las Vegas Raiders – Rich Bisaccia, Derek Carr
- New England Patriots – Bill Belichik, Mac Jones
- Pittsburgh Steelers – Mike Tomlin, Ben Roethlisberger
Ten years or so ago, the Steelers’ combination of Tomlin and Roethlisberger would have arguably been a threat. Things are much different now with an aged Roethlisberger who possesses very little of his prior athletic uniqueness.
In the playoffs, superior coaches and quarterbacks tend to make the biggest difference. The Chiefs might be the only team in the league that possesses a coach and player with an argument at the top spot. Chiefs Kingdom doesn’t have a crystal ball, but they can rest easy knowing that this element usually makes a big difference.
