The Kansas City Chiefs are now a few days out from the frustrating loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and some of us are still feeling the sting of it all. There were penalties and drops, odd coaching calls, and, of course, the insane officiating. In the end, the Chiefs lost by a single field goal on the road against a very good and burgeoning Bengals roster, so future games still favor K.C., but it still hurts all the same.

What’s causing this one to linger more than others isn’t the loss itself, since that’s going to happen after a team wins eight in a row. Rather, it hurts because it stole the single most important postseason advantage teams can have: the first-round bye.

The difference in win percentage between teams with and without the first-round bye is a wide gap, and the Chiefs are now going to have to push through the pain and fatigue to come up big in another game (against a tough opponent).

Given all that was at stake in Week 17 (and all that is still up for grabs heading into Week 18), we had a lot to talk about on the latest episode of the Arrowhead Addict podcast. Sterling Holmes and Matt Conner sit down in this episode to sift through the wreckage from Sunday and to look ahead to see how they believe Week 18 will ultimately play out for Kansas City. In between, there are some bad dad jokes, some hateful rants for NFL officials. and our selections for recent unsung heroes for the Chiefs.
