In case you missed the Pro Bowl announcement on Wednesday that sent six players of the Kansas City Chiefs to the National Football League’s version of an All-Star exhibition, you likely also missed the ensuing responses to the fact that Chiefs center Creed Humphrey was left off of the list.

Humphrey’s snub was met with righteous fury and venomous anger on social media, as Twitter accounts came together in a tidal wave of emotions to cause an uprising that led to… well, nothing happening at all.

We say this half-jokingly, but the truth is that we were hoping to see Humphrey rewarded as a starter in the game due to his exemplary play this season along the Chiefs’ offensive line. He’s earned high marks all year from any analyst who decided to peek in on how he’s doing, and Pro Football Focus graded him as the top center in the NFL—not just among rookies. The hope there was that some of these metrics might make him a more popular vote than some others who just happen to be more well-known.

While the NFL forces a learning curve upon even the best college players attempting to enter in, Humphrey handled it as well as anyone and proved he will be a high-level performer for the Chiefs up front for years to come. Unfortunately the Humphrey, voters decided Corey Linsley of the L.A. Chargers and Ryan Kelly of the Indianapolis Colts were better this year.

Humphrey was selected as an alternate, so there’s that, but that still didn’t stop the masses—the great, gathered, emotional masses—on Twitter from taking a stand together in the name of Creed’s snub.
