Fans and members of the Los Angeles Chargers organization can breathe much easier as of Friday afternoon. That’s because the team released an official statement detailing the rapid improvement exhibited by tight end Donald Parham Jr. the day after he was taken off the field in a stretcher and to the hospital for tests and immediate medical attention.

In case you missed it, Parham went down early in the first quarter on a play in which Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was targeting him while running across the back of the end zone. Herbert threw a solid pass to a player who was pretty open, but somehow Parham allowed the ball through his hands as his head also hit the ground while diving on the ground.

At that point, Chargers trainers worked hard to try to revive him there on the field but needed to pause the game for several minutes to ensure safety proper protocols were followed as they transferred Parham to the hospital before play continued.

After the game, the players were all still very concerned about Parham with good reason as he remained at UCLA Harbor Medical Center for further observation.

Then on Friday, the good news dropped in the afternoon saying that he’d taken a much better turn overnight and that he could even return home as soon as Friday.

The Chargers were already dealing with a few banged-up players on offense including running back Austin Ekeler and wide receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. Even as Parham comes home, he still has a long way to go toward returning back to the field.

Parham has 20 catches for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2021 for L.A.
