Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers had a semi-bye on Sunday as they hosted the New York Giants on Sunday. The Giants are awful and were without Daniel Jones at quarterback yet again this week. This set the Chargers up to blowout the Giants and head into the critical Thursday night matchup with the Chiefs riding high.

Herbert was incredible on Sunday. He continues to show why he is one of the best quarterbacks in the AFC and it was made all the more clear by this touchdown pass to Jalen Guyton:

Herbert launched that 65 yards in the air. That’s Mahomes-ian. Maybe Herbert and Mahomes should have the arm strength contest rather than Mahomes and Josh Allen?

Regardless, we are getting Round 2 of Mahomes v. Herbert on Thursday and it is one that people will not want to miss. Both teams sit at 9-4 with the Chiefs on top, but that means Thursday’s game will likely decide the division.

With a win, the Chargers will be looking at two wins over the Chiefs and a pretty easy last few games. This one means a lot. They have an advantage as the game is a short week and they are hosting – they don’t have to deal with travel. They do, however, have to deal with an offensive line that is shaken up.

It was reported that left tackle Rashawn Slater entered the COVID protocols.

While he is vaccinated, so he has a chance to play, it would be a quick turnaround—similar to what the Chiefs are facing with Josh Gordon and Chris Jones. The good news for the Chargers is that wide receiver Keenan Allen was activated off the COVID list, so they will have him available. This is sure to be a close matchup, but in my estimation, if both teams play to the best of their ability, the Chargers will come up short. I will always bet on Mahomes and Andy.
