Welcome back to another AFC West Report. We are nearing the end of the season (which is crazy) and what is even crazier is the race to the top of the AFC West.

With the Chiefs absolutely dismantling the Raiders on Sunday and the Chargers dominating the Giants, the teams are poised to face off on Thursday night in what will likely be the game to determine the winner of the AFC West—and possibly even the AFC.

Before we jump into that, however, let’s look back on the week…

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos played with heavy hearts on Sunday. Former longtime wide receiver Demaryius Thomas died at the age of 33. In an emotional show of respect, the Broncos reached out to the Detroit Lions regarding the first play of the game. In tribute to Thomas, the Broncos began their game with 10 men on the field. The Lions declined the penalty.

The Broncos proceeded to absolutely stomp the Lions. It’s not a huge surprise given that the Lions got their first win of the season just last week. The Broncos continued to pay tribute to Thomas throughout the game.

I keep saying that the Broncos have a talented roster if they only had a quarterback that could utilize it. I guess the Broncos are making it interesting now that they sit at 7-6. They are still in the playoff race (kind of), but the likelihood of the postseason seems like a stretch.

They have a big matchup on Sunday against the Bengals – the Bengals are very much in their divisional race so they need the win on Sunday. Maybe the Broncos play spoiler, but I think the Bengals have a better quarterback and that will push them over the edge. I’m giving this one to the Bengals, but I hope the Broncos keep it interesting.
