How KC Chiefs rank against the other AFC playoff contenders

2. New England Patriots

If someone wanted to argue the New England Patriots should be the current favorite in the AFC, I wouldn’t argue with them. I see them as neck and neck with the Kansas City Chiefs for that top spot. Both teams are sitting at 9-4 and have defenses that are playing lights out. For me, the upside of KC’s offense makes them a bigger threat, but it’s close. The Patriots have a couple of big games coming up.

  • at Indianapolis Colts
  • vs Buffalo Bills
  • vs Jacksonville Jaguars
  • at Miami Dolphins

If the Patriots can beat the Colts and Bills coming off their bye this week they have a decent shot at running the table and getting the top seed. Then again, the Dolphins have tripped them up late in the season before, so they shouldn’t overlook that last game either. This is a team that’s built to win ugly so in order to beat them, teams are going to have to find a way to get some points on the board.
