The Las Vegas Raiders came into Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs needing to find some early inspiration and momentum. They also needed to keep the Chiefs from doing what they did so often during the last time they met.

As the AFC West rivals gathered to face one another early in the scheduled Sunday afternoon game at Arrowhead Stadium, to try to gain some of that early inspiration, Raiders defensive end Yannick Ngakoue gathered his Las Vegas teammates at the middle of the field atop the Chiefs logo.

Apparently there was some sort of “we can own this house” or such talk at the time—whatever movie scene you want to picture there with a moving speech.

Given that the Chiefs just rolled over the Raiders at their home stadium, which is really just a weird Nest thermometer on a larger scale, by 27 total points a few weeks ago, we can’t blame the Raiders for trying what they did. Here’s a look at the Raiders’ readiness gathering:

From there, the Chiefs apparently were fine with them hanging at midfield because 17 seconds into the actual game itself, the Chiefs were already up 7-0. That’s because Kansas City decided to gather in the end zone instead.

One play into the game, defensive tackle Jarran Reed forced a fumble and cornerback Mike Hughes was able to pick up the ball and take it in the rest of the way.

Even though the Chiefs deferred to halftime to get the ball first, they now own a 7-point lead on the Raiders. Maybe the Raiders should choose a different gathering spot next time.
