Buffalo Bills

Before the season began, the Buffalo Bills were the hot pick for Super Bowl contender who didn’t play in the prior season’s game. It was understandable, as they have one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL and what appears to be an improved roster from last season’s AFC contender.

That sentiment was considerably strengthened in Week 5, after the Bills absolutely shellacked the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in a game that didn’t feel as close as it’s 38-20 final score. It was the most embarrassing loss of the Patrick Mahomes’ era and one of the most embarrassing since Andy Reid became the team’s head coach.

Since then the Bills have cooled substantially. They have lost three of their last six games including arguably the worst loss for any contender in a 9-6 snooze fest against the Jaguars. If that wasn’t bad enough, two weeks later they got destroyed by the Indianapolis Colts to the tune of 41-15.

I’m not entirely sure what to make of the Bills at this juncture. Are they a Super Bowl contender or simply a team destined for an early round exit from the playoffs? It’s hard to tell from week to week.

That said, they are not a team to be taken lightly. If the Bills manage to regain their early season form they’re arguably the Chiefs biggest obstacle, outside of the Chiefs themselves, to the team returning to the Super Bowl.
