The Kansas City Chiefs have made a couple of minor roster moves to begin their roster preparation for Week 13, which features the team’s first game of 2021 against the Denver Broncos.

Per the league’s transaction wire, coming out of the bye, the Chiefs have officially brought back wide receiver Marcus Kemp to the active roster after a stint on the team’s COVID reserve list that kept him out of Week 11 and the bye week. The Chiefs also re-signed tight end Nakia Griffin-Stewart to their practice squad.

The Chiefs lost Kemp to the COVID list a week ago and brought up wide receiver Daurice Fountain from the practice squad in response. They still have yet to resolve Fountain’s position on the roster, so it will be interesting to see how they sort out some of the decisions they have to make going forward.

The Chiefs made a couple roster moves to start the week against the Denver Broncos.

Kemp occupies an important special teams role for the team but offers limited offensive upside. He does bring a long history with the team and coaching staff as a member of the team in one capacity or another since 2017, when he signed as an undrafted free agent.

As for Griffin-Stewart, he first signed with the team earlier in November on the practice squad as another developmental tight end on the roster, but he was let go four days later to make room for offensive lineman Darryl Williams. The fact that he’s back on the roster now gives the sense that the Chiefs like him as a potential long-term play. Many times players brought aboard the practice squad late in the year are given futures contracts for the following offseason so a team can get a longer look.
