The bye week is always a welcome sight for every player on NFL rosters around the league each year for the simple fact that it gives everyone—players and coaches alike—the chance to step away from the game and rest up in what is otherwise an arduous season made up of grueling physical contests, tough practice sessions, and major/minor injuries.

This year, the K.C. Chiefs drew the latest possible bye week, which might have been tough on guys ailing earlier in the year, but it also gives the entire roster a chance to rest and recuperate before stepping back into the arena for the final few swings of the regular season. By claiming a foothold in the postseason before the bye with a four-game win streak at present, the Chiefs have given themselves some incredible momentum and hope while simultaneously getting a chance to heal up for the stretch.

Up ahead for the Chiefs is a number of divisional contests—the great majority of them—along with key dates against AFC North opponents like the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers. These are all winnable contests, but it’s going to take a focused, healthy team in order to finish well. That’s true for everyone, by the way.

While the bye is a plus for anyone, it doesn’t affect everyone in the same way. In fact, some players needed this week much more than others. With so much left to accomplish, here are the players that the bye is likely to help the most.
