Sack Nation!

While we wanted to honor the defensive effort as a whole, it felt weird to not allow Chris Jones to have his moment in the spotlight after putting on a pass rushing clinic against the Dallas Cowboys offensive line (a celebrated unit, by the way).

Jones came into the game with three sacks on the season and he doubled that total against Dallas with a tremendous effort that showed up multiple moves and a relentless motor both inside and out. The end result was a career night with 3.5 sacks, three more quarterback hits, and 2 tackles for a loss.

While the Chiefs have other disruptors who deserve credit on their own, it’s Jones who is the one who must be accounted for as a disruptive presence. As much attention as he earns from opposing game plans, it’s amazing how much damage Jones can do.

Micah Parsons is the real deal

In case this is your first instance seeing Micah Parsons live this season, the eye test proves what the stats were already saying.

Parsons came into the game as the leading sack leader among rookies in the NFL, but he had a day to remember at Arrowhead Stadium against the Chiefs. He had two sacks of Mahomes along with three quarterback hits and one of those was a strip sack that forced a fumble early in the game. The Chiefs likely would have put this game out of reach much earlier on the afternoon if not for the presence of Parsons up front for the Cowboys.

When a team takes a pass rusher in the top half of the first round, they need him to be an impact player. Dallas has to be overjoyed with how good Parsons looks so early in his rookie season. He’s likely a generational talent who will only get better with experience.
