Chris Jones is already celebrated plenty for his efforts, not only as the best overall defensive player on the Kansas City Chiefs but even as one of the best players at any posiition in the National Football League. Yet even with such a strong resume already, he took his game to yet another level on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11.

The Chiefs put away the Cowboys with a strong 19-9 victory to move to 7-4, a win that was made possible by the excellent execution by the Chiefs defense on the night. Jones in particular put together an incredible body of work with a career-high 3.5 sacks on the night of Dak Prescott.

In total on the night, Jones had 5 tackles, 2 more tackles for loss, 3 quarterback hits, and 1 pass deflection that just happened to lead to a game-sealing interception by L’Jarius Sneed.

It’s hard to put Jones’ domination into perspective on the night, because it was such an incredibly well-rounded performance from a player who was disruptive for all four quarters. Perhaps that’s why we’re simply happy to smile and nod when Khalen Saunders summed it up best for us.

What made our jaws drop so far? It wasn’t just the totals, although those were obscene. It was how he did it. Instead of just beating up on a backup or role player here and there, Jones was plying his trade against the best in the business at times.

Jones’ incredible performance even had his current and former teammates standing and cheering for him (at least metaphorically) on Twitter:
