The Kansas City Chiefs offense looked unrecognizable the first nine weeks. Patrick Mahomes was still throwing for a lot of yards and touchdowns, but also committed a lot of turnovers. He’s had many passes that were inaccurate. But when he was accurate, we witnessed a lot of passes that were either dropped or tipped for an interception.

However, Sunday night was a different story for Mahomes and the Chiefs. After nine crazy weeks, the Chiefs offense returned to normalcy and dominated. The entire offense was in sync. More importantly, Mahomes played like an MVP.

In Kansas City’s 41-14 routing in Las Vegas, Mahomes finished with 35 completions, 406 yards and five touchdowns. His completions and yards are a single-game best this season while his touchdown total ties his season high from Week 4 in Philadelphia.

Patrick Mahomes dominated the Raiders with multiple season-highs and tied a record with three Hall of Famers.

Mahomes made history on Sunday night as it was his third career game with 400 passing yards and five touchdown passes. That ties Pro Football Hall of Famers Peyton Manning, Dan Marino and Joe Montana. The best part is: Mahomes is just 26-years-old. You can bet he will break that record and even set the bar very high.

Going into Week 9, Mahomes led the NFL in interceptions with 10 while the Chiefs had a league-high 19 turnovers, which is now at 20.. Kansas City’s only turnover on Sunday night came on special teams. It is the second week in a row the offense had zero giveaways.

It’s hard to pinpoint what caused Mahomes to be in a funk the first nine weeks. Even when the Chiefs won this year, he was playing like himself. With the Chargers and Broncos falling and first place on the line, Mahomes and the offense stepped up. It was the best offensive performance of the season. The Chiefs opened the game with a three-and-out. After that, they played almost a flawless game against the Raiders.

The Chiefs not only needed to win to take first place in the division, but needed to make a statement. The entire team needed this, Mahomes included. If the Chiefs keep playing like this, they can compete with the best teams in the NFL. They will have a chance to prove that against the Dallas Cowboys next week.
