There’s a solid amount of momentum already at work now for the Kansas City Chiefs. Special teams have lived up their name in recent weeks, following on the coattails of a rapidly improving defense that is making up for lost time early in the season. Then on Sunday, the offense became “unstuck” and thoroughly toasted the Las Vegas Raiders in a convincing win that pushed them into first place in the AFC West.
This is a breath of fresh air for Chiefs Kingdom after enduring so many heartbreaking losses and self-inflicted wounds in the season’s first half. While they are a first-place team, the Chiefs still have 20 turnovers after their first 10 games—an unacceptable total that should keep everyone humble. There’s also zero margin to work with going forward. Another bad loss puts the Chiefs right back on the fringes of potentially missing the postseason.
With a current three-game win streak, however, it looks as if the Chiefs are finally firing on all cylinders after a long offseason filled with projections of greatness. Whether or not things will stay that way on their own, the Chiefs can also feel good knowing there are some reinforcements on the way—players who are presently injured who will provide a boost with their eventual return to the active roster.
Here’s a look at a few players expected to come back from injuries soon to help a franchise that’s already trending in the right direction.
