Multiple starting players are going to be sitting out for both franchises competing on Monday Night Football in Week 9 as the New York Giants visit the Kansas City Chiefs. The list of inactive players for both teams includes key contributors on both sides of the ball.
While both teams will say this is an important game on the schedule, the reality is that there’s not much at stake for the Giants. They’re 2-5 and focused on a long-term rebuild around quarterback Daniel Jones under head coach Joe Judge. That doesn’t mean, however, that they’re disinterested in Monday’s game against the Chiefs. A win against a team like the Chiefs would be a strong indicator that the team is headed in a positive direction so soon.
As for the Chiefs, it’s quite the opposite. The Giants are likely the least talented overall roster they’ll face this season and they could use a win in a major way to keep pace in the AFC West and stop the bleeding from an embarrassing loss to the Tennessee Titans last week.
Here are the inactive players for Chiefs vs. Giants.
They’ll have to do so this week with both linebacker Anthony Hitchens and defensive tackle Khalen Saunders on the inactive list as injured scratches who will need to rest up and heal from various injuries. Hitchens will miss his second consecutive game with a triceps injury, while Saunders is a new addition to the injury report this week with a knee injury that kept him out completely of practice all week long.
Here’s the complete list of inactive players for the Chiefs:
- Deandre Baker, cornerback
- Prince Tega Wanogho, offensive line
- Austin Blythe, offensive line
- Anthony Hitchens, linebacker
- Khalen Saunders, defensive line
- Mike Remmers, offensive line
As for the Giants, here is their list of inactive players:
- Nate Ebner, safety
- Lorenzo Carter, linebacker
- Saquon Barkley, running back
- Kenny Golladay, wideout
- Danny Shelton, defensive line
- J.R. Reed, defensive back
The Giants and Chiefs kick off at 7:15 p.m. C.T. at Arrowhead Stadium.
