The Kansas City Chiefs have had a very disappointing start to their 2021 season. Not only have they started the year just 3-4, but they have also done it in a frustrating manner. The defense has been one of the worst in football and the offense can’t stop turning the ball over. The players are frustrated. The fans are frustrated. That’s bad enough, but now the players and fans are even clashing with each other online. Needless to say, this is not how anyone wanted or predicted the season to go.

The Chiefs need a win tonight in the worst way. They need a win to get back to .500. They need a win to not fall too far behind in both the AFC and their division. They need a win to boost player morale. They need a win to boost fan morale. A loss in this game would drop them to 3-5 and could lead to even worse tension between the players and the fans. Frankly, even an ugly/poorly played win could be a problem in Chiefs Kingdom.

This is a team that needs to get back to their winning ways. They need to play and look like the team we all expected them to be. The New York Giants are not a good football team. That having been said, if the Giants were to win this game they would have the same record as the Chiefs with a head-to-head win in Arrowhead. Think about that for a second. If the Chiefs lose this game they would have no argument to make that they are a better team than the Giants. Yikes.

Here’s the good news for Chiefs fans, I 100% believe that winning this game and getting back on track is completely in K.C.’s control. If the Chiefs come out and do these five key things, all of which are easily achievable, the rest should take care of itself. The Chiefs don’t need the Giants to give this game away. The Chiefs still have enough talent on their roster to win a primetime home game by just being the best version of themselves. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen that best version very often this season. Last week I wrote that the Chiefs need to start to think about fixing things for the long term instead of just the here and now, but I do believe there are five easy things they can do starting tonight to still make this season better.

So let’s start with the first key, which involves K.C.’s most important player.
