Chiefs Game Today: New York Giants vs Chiefs injury report, schedule, live stream, TV channel and betting preview for Week 8 NFL game
By Matt Conner
This is a game the Kansas City Chiefs simply have to win.
At this point, even with a 3-4 record, a very small cross-section of vocal fans are already calling for Andy Reid to be fired and are proclaiming that Patrick Mahomes has been figured out. For some reason, they tend to love misery and should be ignored at all costs, but that sort of panic can set in the general populace if the wheels come off this thing. And trust us, losing to the New York Giants at home in primetime in Week 8 would be that very event.
The Giants are the most talent-deficient team on the schedule for the Chiefs this season, a year in which they tend to play every division leader and playoff hopeful as the reigning AFC champs. The Chiefs have already taken out two other NFC East teams, so if they fell to the worst of them all, it would be a gut punch from which some fans wouldn’t recover. When emotions are that low, reason is typically lost.
That’s why the Chiefs have to win and win big this week. The odds seem to reflect this, too.
Chiefs Injury Report vs New York Giants Week 8
The Chiefs will be without defensive tackle Khalen Saunders this week as he’s dealing with a knee injury that kept him from practicing this week just as he’s been coming on stronger for the defensive line. Fortunately, Chris Jones, who missed practice this week for personal reasons and a wrist injury, was able to practice in full and should be able to play just fine.
The Chiefs will also wait and see on the status of cornerback Charvarius Ward and tackle Mike Remmers until warmups for Monday night begin. Ward is a starting boundary corner who has missed considerable time with a quad injury, although he played last week. Remmers has missed some practice this week, but he was recently inserted as the starting right tackle over the last two weeks.
Saquon Barkley injury update
The Giants are getting used to life without Saquon Barkley for a second season after he’s missed the last two weeks with an ankle injury, and they’re going to have to go without him offensively for a third week after he was recently declared out against the Chiefs. Barkley missed every game but two last season as well with injury, so after consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to begin his pro career, the selection of Barkley so early in the draft is looking suspect.
As for what this means for the Giants, they were still able to beat the Panthers last week without heroics from Daniel Jones or the presence of Barkley. But to expect much from the run game here is silly. Every Giants running back, Barkley included, is averaging less than four yards/carry behind this below-average front line. Without Barkley, it’s only a weaker unit up front which gives K.C. an even greater advantage.
Chiefs vs Giants Odds, Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick Week 8
WynnBET’s Week 8 NFL odds have the Chiefs favored by 9.5 points, so it’s clear that everyone expects the Chiefs to win here and to win big. That’s exactly the sort of game the Chiefs could use to instill a bit of confidence, but this game will come with an asterisk until the Chiefs can also put together a well-rounded performance against anyone sniffing a .500 record. The money line for the Chiefs is at -440 while the Giants sit at +350, while the over/under is at 52 points overall. There are good reasons to think these Chiefs will win big and also to take the under after seeing the team’s defense take so much heat.

Chiefs Next Game and Schedule
The Giants were the easiest team on the entire schedule, but what looked like a fair stretch coming up has turned much tougher with the success so far for both the Raiders and the Cowboys. The Chiefs already knew the Packers game in Week 9 was going to be a tough one, but now it looks like another tough trio of games before the Broncos visit town.
Week 9: Green Bay Packers
Week 10: @ Las Vegas Raiders
Week 11: Dallas Cowboys
Week 12: Denver Broncos
