Adam Anderson, Edge, Georgia

The Chiefs pass rush has seen little to zero production throughout the season, totaling only 8 sacks through 7 games so far this season. Chris Jones missing games and adjusting to playing edge may have a part to play in that number, but it still shows a need for help along the line. With Frank Clark’s probable release after the season due to both his cap number and his production, an edge rusher may be the biggest need going into the offseason and Anderson can fill that role.

Anderson slots in as a pure pass rusher for the Georgia Bulldogs. He has seen a limited amount of snaps in his career due to his inability to be productive against the run. Even with his issues stopping the ground game, many draft experts still view him highly. His 6’5 frame and reported 4.47 40 yard dash have been seen on the field.

Anderson currently sits at 4.5 sacks so far this season, through 6 games, leading the #1 ranked Bulldogs. In the 2020 season, Anderson was able to collect 6.5 sacks on the season for Georgia. While that seems quite productive by itself, it’s important to note that those 6.5 sacks came in LESS than 100 pass rush snaps! Experts believe Anderson’s lack of strength and inability to stop the run will concern some teams come draft day.

Even with those issues, Anderson’s highly efficient ability to rush the passer would help provide the Chiefs with a huge spark on the defensive side of the ball. Anderson’s production for the rest of the season will be something to look at for the stacked Bulldogs defensive roster, which may have other targets in the first round for the Chiefs to pursue.
