The Kansas City Chiefs currently sit at 3-4 coming off a 27-3 blowout loss to the Tennessee Titans on the road. The four losses have all come against teams who are either tied or stand alone in first place in their divisions at the moment.

Some Chiefs fans might say the schedule is hard. Yes, it is hard. But that should not be a reason for the team’s struggles when the Chiefs have reached the Super Bowl the last two years and the AFC Championship game the last three years.

Even with a tough schedule, did anyone expect the Chiefs to be 3-4 and lead the NFL in turnovers with 18, by a wide margin, seven weeks into the season? No one expected this, even with a challenging schedule.

After consecutive Super Bowl appearances, the K.C. Chiefs are no longer competitive.

Prior to Super Bowl 55, Kansas City’s worst loss with Patrick Mahomes under center was eight points. Since then, the Chiefs have been blown out three times.

Kansas City’s best win of the season came against the 4-3 Cleveland Browns in Week 1, which required a flawless second half to come from behind and win. The other two wins have come against Philadelphia and Washington, both with 2-5 records.

The Chiefs have lost to the Ravens, Chargers, Bills, and Titans. As mentioned earlier, all of them are currently either in first place or tied for first place in their divisions. But the Chiefs have not shown their competitive side against these current division leaders. The Chiefs have three games this year where they committed four turnovers in a single game. All three have come against those division leaders.

It is hard to figure out what has happened to Kansas City’s competitive spirit. The Chiefs used to come away victorious in games that came down to the wire the past three seasons. Now they are finding themselves below .500 with an uphill battle for the second half of the season coming up.

If Andy Reid does not get the Chiefs moving in the right direction and can’t solve the turnover woes, it will be a long second half of the season and the Chiefs won’t have a shot at the playoffs.

dark. Next. The Chiefs need to shift their focus to the future
