Byron Pringle shows up strong

On a day in which very little offensive went right, wide receiver Byron Pringle showed up strong for the Chiefs. It was a nice little wrinkle on an otherwise miserable day, and we’re glad to see Pringle earn more trust from Patrick Mahomes and the coaching staff.

Pringle led the Chiefs in receiving yards with 73 on Sunday afternoon against the Titans on 5 total catches. In the process, he also caught this incredible throw from Mahomes at a point where it was too little, too late, but it’s also likely that many Chiefs missed this play because they’d already turned off the game and/or refused to acknowledge anything positive on the afternoon.

Through only six games this season, Pringle had already matched his career-high in receiving yards with 170 and bested his touchdowns with two. On Sunday, he added significant totals to those figures and it looks as if Pringle is on track to end his season with the sorts of numbers that we’re used to seeing from guys higher up the list—from Demarcus Robinson to Mecole Hardman.

Pringle has seriously good hands, and his agility is such a weapon in both the return game and when catching the ball in stride. On Sunday, we saw his ability to go up and make the contested catch as well.

On a poor day in terms of offensive execution, it was nice to see Pringle exhibit further growth in a career that’s been a slow burn to date.
