Everyone on the Kansas City Chiefs sidelines was undoubtedly miserable in Week 7.

During the team’s 27-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, there should not have been a single player, coach, or staff member—or even a relative or friend of those figures—looking remotely happy with the outcome or the execution on a miserable day that sent the Chiefs back under .500 in the standings. However, sports anchor Harold Kuntz of FOX4 claims that Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu might have taken his frustration too far.

As the game was nearing its conclusion, Kuntz took to Twitter to share a moment he saw or claims to have seen. We’ll let him explain things.

Is that a bad look? Yes, if it happened. The problem here is that there is zero evidence of the situation at all. Then came this shortly after the game, where Mathieu is now forced to defend himself on Twitter by saying, “I never said that. This is a lie!” Here’s the post from Mathieu.

Without video, it makes it impossible for those who didn’t see the incident to know what exactly happened or who is stating things incorrectly here. What is frustrating about all of this, however, is that it just adds further drama onto a day where emotions are already running high and the negativity is settling in. In short, this is the sort of scenario that feels like the wheels are coming off.

Here’s hoping that the Chiefs can come together as a group and make some honest self-assessments about what needs to change. Perhaps being embarrassed in Week 7 will allow for some real growth in the locker room and on the field. But for now these sorts of potential interactions with fans, or even the accusations of them, only add fuel to the fire that the Chiefs are unraveling in ways that no one could have expected before the season.
