Willie Gay

Playing in only the past two weeks, second-year linebacker Willie Gay is slowly making his way back to a struggling Kansas City Chiefs defense. Seeing only 44% and 31% of snaps in Weeks 5 and 6, Gay still hasn’t been given a large role, slotting behind Nick Bolton, Anthony Hitchens, and Ben Niemann in snaps in the past two weeks.

Depending on his health and how Steve Spagnuolo plans to spread snaps, this may be Gay’s week to earn himself more playing time against the Tennessee Titans..

Ranking as the second worst team against the run on yards per carry at 5.2, the Chiefs will need everyone to step up facing the most dominant running back in the league. Gay may be given an opportunity to slow down the one man only the undefeated Arizona Cardinals have been able to do so far. A productive performance against the Titans would place Gay in an position to have his full snap count back and potentially leading the Chiefs struggling linebacker core.
