The AFC West is looking much more competitive than anyone thought it might be after six weeks of the NFL season. What’s even more surprising is that even after a month-and-a-half of NFL action, the Kansas City Chiefs remain in last place.

Of course, like anything else, it’s all in how you spin it, which means it’s also possible to say that the last place Chiefs are also one game out of first as the West is particularly loaded and close with each team within a single game of one another.

For the Denver Broncos and Chiefs, that’s good news considering they are tied for last place in the division, to be so close still to the 4-2 L.A. Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders.

The Chiefs and Broncos are sitting one game behind the rest of the AFC West after Week 6.

The season has definitely not gone according to plan or predictions for the Chiefs so far, and that includes sitting in the basement of the AFC West as well. No one could have expected the Raiders and Broncos to start the season unbeaten after a few games, and the Chargers have figured some things out in terms of protecting the quarterback and winning the big game. All of that has helped bury the Chiefs early.

The good news for the Chiefs is that they still have five of six AFC West games left which means the divisional outcome in still completely in their hands. It’s also true that the Broncos are falling apart with three consecutive losses, and Jon Gruden’s fall from grace could be enough to distract the Raiders from doing any further damage.

Here’s an official look at the AFC WEST standings after Week 6.
