The Chiefs desperately need a comeback after a disappointing showing against Buffalo in Week 5. At this point, the Chiefs need to win to keep pace with the Chargers with the hope that they can come out on top of the AFC West. Walking into Sunday, while this probably isn’t a “must-win,” it’s as good as. The Chiefs need to get right both offensively and defensively.

On Sunday, taking on the Washington Football Team, they just might have that opportunity. Washington is plagued by issues including having lost their starting quarterback. Taylor Heinicke has played fine during his time starting, but he isn’t lighting up defenses. There are some weapons on the offensive side of the ball, but nothing like what Kansas City has. On defense, the front is tough with Chase Young, but they have not been as productive as everyone expected them to be.

With their backs against the wall, we polled our Arrowhead Addict writers to weigh in with their predictions of what will happen. Judging by the results, most expect the Chiefs to bounce back against an inferior Washington team. Here’s what our writers had to say about Chiefs vs. Washington in Week 6.

Matt Conner

The Chiefs have very little choice but to mow through the NFC East this season and they shouldn’t have any issues here with the imbalance between offensive units. Even if Washington’s defense comes to life, the Chiefs are simply too talented to slow completely. Chiefs 29, Washington 12

Max Cashio

Every game is must-win now that the Chargers have a 2 game lead in the AFC West. This team has to turn things around, and I believe they will. Chiefs 35, Washington 21

Greg Morse

It’s a battle of the two worst defenses in the league and Taylor Heineke might have a career day. Mahomes might too, and gets the last laugh for the win. Chiefs 35, Washington 28.

Evan Mead

Maybe my biases are getting in the way for these picks, Maybe not. Either way, the Chiefs still have so much talent on their roster that you have to think they can turn this losing streak around. Chiefs 28, Washington 24.

Kole Berrey

This is either a get-right game or a full DEFCON 1 situation. For my sanity, I project this as the former. The Chiefs look crisp, focused, and cruise to a 38-24 win against the football team after trailing 3-0. Chiefs 38, Washington, 24.

Scott Loring

The Chiefs head to Washington in a must-win situation. They will leave Washington with a win and a running back controversy as Darrel Williams tops 125 yards and two scores. Taylor Heinecke makes things interesting but the Chiefs escape. Chiefs 29, Washington 24.

Ellen Mathis

After getting thumped last time out, the Chiefs have a lot to prove this weekend against Washington. They desperately need a complete performance, and thankfully I think they’ll get one. The defense will finally show some signs of life and the Chiefs will win. Chiefs 27, Washington 17.

Lyle Graversen

Surely the Chiefs will begin to right the ship against the Washington Football Team, right? RIGHT???? All kidding aside, even if the defense isn’t great in this one I trust Patrick Mahomes to out duel Taylor Heinicke. Chiefs 34, Washington 24.

Farzin Vousoughian

The defense has a chance to improve, but it’s still likely we see it struggle. If the offense can take care of the football, it should result in a win. Chiefs 35, Washington 21.

Patrick Allen

The Chiefs aren’t playing good football but there is a big gap in talent between Kansas City and Washington, especially on offense. I think the Chiefs hit rock bottom last week and this will be the start of a revival. Chiefs 33, Washington 17.
