Late last night, as we were doing the Arrowhead Addict Podcast Chiefs Postgame Show, I noticed on Twitter that there were reports that Kansas City Chiefs guard Joe Thuney had fractured his hand.

I wanted to write something up on it for ya’ll but by the time I finished the initial editing sprint after the podcast, it was 2 am. I figured, “hell, they’ve had enough bad news for one night.” The plan was to get up today and, in case you hadn’t seen it, pass along to you the bad news. So I get up and I see this:

Rapoport is right, offensive lineman are just different, man. Thuney was out there with a broken hand, protecting Patrick Mahomes and he was just like “screw it, throw a cast on there, I’ll be fine.”

He was fine, too. I didn’t see any noticeable drop in Thuney’s play. Can you imagine trying to hold off angry 300 pound dudes in any situation, let alone with a broke hand? It remains to be seen whether or not Thuney will miss time. We will likely know more today.

Unfortunately, Thuney wasn’t the only Chief who got injured.

“Tyreek Hill” and the “knee injury” are not four words I really ever care to hear in succession. Nor am I am interested in anything bad happening to Travis Kelce, even if it was just a “stinger.”

In past seasons, I would say the Chiefs should rest all of their banged up guys because the most important thing was that all the key players are healthy for the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Chiefs have dug themselves into such a hole that I am not sure they can play well enough without their key guys to make the playoffs.

It’s dark times, friends. We will keep you updated on the injury front. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is likely to have an MRI today to determine the extent of his knee damage. Hopefully he is only looking at a 1-3 week absence.
