With Week 5 in the NFL approaching, the K.C. Chiefs are looking to turn the page after back-to-back losses and post back-to-back wins for the first time this year. With a win against Philadelphia last week, they look forward to the Buffalo Bills and a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game. The Buffalo Bills are 3-1, with only a loss to the Steelers in Week 1 thus far in 2021.

Much has been made of the Bills hot start, as the offense seems to be clicking with Josh Allen in the first year of his massive extension, and the defense coming alongside to compliment him, having given up only 595 passing yards through 4 Weeks, and tied for second in the league in interceptions with 7.

However, how good has the competition been for Buffalo this year? Have they truly faced the caliber of offense and quarterback they’ll see in K.C. on Sunday Night Football? Let’s take a look at the quarterbacks Buffalo has faced on their way to a 3-1 record.

Week 1: Ben Roethlisberger

The only loss of this season thus far for the Bills came against the Steelers, a game in which the Steelers blocked a punt that turned into the deciding 7-point margin. The Steelers rallied late, and it wasn’t the offense that got them there, it was mostly the defense and special teams of Pittsburgh that won them this Week 1 contest. However, Ben Roethlisberger and the offense didn’t do anything to lose the game and managed to get into scoring position multiple times to set up Chris Boswell for 9 of the 26 points.

In the games since then? Ben Roethlisberger has thrown 3 touchdowns to 4 interceptions, as the Steelers have lost three straight. The average margin of loss in those three Steelers losses was 11 points, making those interceptions exceptionally costly. Even though the Bills lost this game, we surely can’t say it makes their defense look any better because of Big Ben’s less than stellar play both in their Week 1 contest and in the games since then.
