A good rule of thumb for 99.9 percent of us is to not invest any energy or time on the idiocy known as online trolls. Social media, and especially Twitter, doesn’t exactly bring out the best in a person or even a Russian bot, which is why it’s usually better to just keep scrolling (or better yet, just turn off your phone) when you feel emotionally drawn in to debate or engage with someone who is being stupid.

Tyrann Mathieu is not in that 99.9 percent.

On Wednesday, Mathieu decided to use a minute of his free time to scroll through Twitter and somehow stumbled upon an armchair quarterback of sorts who believes they know what is best for the Kansas City Chiefs and their financial future. Mathieu actually wasn’t involved, at first, in the original back and forth, but fortunately Twitter’s wonderful array of services allow anyone to say anything to anyone, no matter if it has anything to do with them or not.

In this instances, one Chiefs fan made a statement saying that it’s time for Mathieu to receive his extension. The troll then stepped up and pushed back against the idea. From there, things spiraled into an illogical argument that made little sense. It began with the following post.

From there, a troll who goes by Chief Mahomie weighs in with the sort of odd perspective you get if you give your drunk uncle the camcorder at the holiday season. After some back and forth between the initial poster and the troll, a certain All-Pro safety decided to weigh in on the conversation.

Unfortunately, Chief Mahomie decided to delete all of his offending tweets, but we managed to save some of the exchange. What’s great is imagining someone who thought they could just blindly criticize a player without him getting wind of it. It’s understandable, since who would ever think that someone with a sizable platform would care what most of us would have to say about them. However, today was just the right day for Mathieu apparently.

If there’s a chance that someone reading it is going to make you delete what you are getting ready to post, just know it’s not worth posting in the first place. Then again, I guess this is better than getting found by Tyrann and confronted in real life.
