When any team is sitting in the basement of their own division, even after only three games, it’s pretty rare to see them listed as a favorite to play in, let alone win, the upcoming Super Bowl. Somehow that’s the scenario for the Kansas City Chiefs as Las Vegas oddsmakers are still firm believers in Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ chances to play in the NFL’s biggest game next February.

Per our friends at WynnBET, the latest round of Super Bowl odds are out and while the top two teams have flipped, the bettor’s favored scenario remains the same: a rematch of last year’s contest between the Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Chiefs have been the odds-on favorites since the offseason, so they drop to No. 2 overall for the first time all year with Tampa Bay now up top. However, both teams, since they are from different conference, can still consider themselves favored to play. The Bucs are now +600 as favorites and the Chiefs follow immediately behind at +700.

A closer look at the Chiefs Super Bowl odds

The Chiefs have lost consecutive games to the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers, which means they’re behind an important contender in the AFC for playoff positioning and even down in their own division. The Chiefs have literally owned the AFC West for five straight years now, but as of press time, the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos are unbeaten at 3-0, and the Chargers could easily be unbeaten as well if not for a single penalty against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.

Given the slightly better odds in favor of someone who still believes in the Chiefs, Ben Heisler of Betsided notes it’s a great time to buy low before the team puts together a win streak and lessens the potential reward. (Plus you’ll be able to say, “I bet on them when…”)

As for other teams on the move, the L.A. Rams (+800) are the obvious riser given their 3-0 record and the way Sean McVay has his team looking with Matthew Stafford under center. Following suit are the Buffalo Bills (+1000) and a two-way tie for the final spot in the top five (at +1300) between the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns.
