Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes
Chiefs fans know just how good Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are. Heck, the whole league knows it. Once again on Sunday, they both showcased just how exceptional they are.
While some players on offense struggled with turnovers or found it difficult to make an impact on the game, Kelce stepped up once again with seven catches for 104 yards. Kelce is an ever-reliant target for Mahomes, and once again he was able to come up with a big play when his team needed him.
Kelce’s great performance saw him overtake Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez for the most games with 100+ receiving yards in Chiefs history (27), having last week broken the record to become the fastest TE to reach 8,000 yards.
Mahomes meanwhile had a poor game against the Chargers. But even when he is bad, Mahomes is still able to put his team in a position to win.
In his worst game of the season, he was still able to put up solid numbers with 260 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions and 45 yards rushing. It was the 23rd time in his career he has had 250+ yards with 3+ TDs, the most by any QB in his first 50 starts since 1950.
Chiefs fans should feel good knowing that Mahomes only had one game with multiple interceptions last year (Week 13 at Miami), so hopefully this is just a once-off. And despite a down game, Mahomes still became the fastest player to reach 15,000 career passing yards
Kelce and Mahomes aren’t K.C.’s only weapons, but as long as they are on the field, the Chiefs will always have a shot at winning.
