KC Chiefs vs. Ravens: Daurice Fountain among inactive players for Kansas City
By Matt Conner
The K.C. Chiefs have released their list of inactive players for Sunday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens and there are no major surprises among the list of inactive players for Kansas City.
The Chiefs released their list of inactives and the list included mostly familiar faces who were already healthy scratches from the previous week. Preseason receiving sensation Daurice Fountain is out again, as is former first round cornerback Deandre Baker. Veteran lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is also sitting out the game after being inactive last week against the Browns.
It is interesting that rookie pass rusher Joshua Kaindoh went from active last week to inactive this week. One glaring miscue last week allowed the Browns to run free on a wide open play, and perhaps the Chiefs decided that Kaindoh needs a bit more time to adjust to the pro level. Austin Blythe also remains out although he recently had surgery for a sports hernia, so that’s not a surprise.
Inactives are out for the Chiefs and Ravens.
As for the Ravens, some key names are out as expected, including defensive lineman Derek Wolfe (who was also out last week) and left tackle Ronnie Stanley, who was never able to practice this week. The Ravens line will be tested without Stanley up front as Alejandro Villanueva slides over from the right side. Cornerback Jimmy Smith is also out for the Ravens, leaving the secondary a bit thinner.
Other inactive for the Ravens include defensive tackle Broderick Washington and linebacker Daelin Hayes.
The Chiefs enter the game against the Ravens will all of the momentum between the two teams. They’re healthy and fresh off of a season-opening win that reminded everyone to never count out Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and company after coming back to beat the Cleveland Browns in the fourth quarter in Week 1.
As for the Ravens, they have been decimated by injuries and they’ve not yet even played their second game. Even during the postseason, the team was dealing with numerous issues and injuries and the list has gotten longer in recent days, including left tackle Ronnie Stanley. Even healthy players have been hurting all week
The Chiefs and Ravens kick off at 7:20 p.m. C.T. at M&T Bank Stadium.
