KC Chiefs: Baltimore Ravens have new serious injury concerns
By Matt Conner
Chris Westry, CB
If Westry is a new name to your, don’t worry. Even Ravens fans would be hard pressed to be able to name him since he was just signed as an undrafted free agent this year by the Ravens front office.
But here’s the situation for the Ravens. Marcus Peters is already out for the full season. Jimmy Smith was inactive on Monday against the Raiders and was limited in practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury. Marlon Humphrey played on Monday but he was limited as well in practice with a back injury. Earlier in the preseason, the Ravens had already placed corners Iman Marshall and Khalil Dorsey on injured reserve.
Westry might be a new name but he played 38 percent of the team’s defensive snaps on Monday for a team that’s already hurting and coming off of a short week. Now, just like that, even he is not available anymore.
The Ravens still have talent in the defensive backfield with Humphrey leading the way to go with Smith, Tavon Young, and Anthony Averett. However, they’re much thinner than they should be entering the season and even developmental guys aren’t available as security.
