When the clock reached zero on the K.C. Chiefs close win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday evening at Arrowhead Stadium, I just needed a moment. The final results were exhilarating to be sure, but the previous four quarters had left me emotionally drained. In fact, here was the best way I could express it.

I know I’m not the only one. Our own Slack channel here for Arrowhead Addict writers had us ranging from clenched fists to fist pumps as the Chiefs struggled to keep up with the Browns near-perfect execution for three-full quarters only to then come-from-behind with another round of heroics from Patrick Mahomes.

It turns out that following Mahomes’ fiancee Brittany Matthews on Twitter showcases the same range of emotion that we all felt. In fact, it’s like reading her timeline is like reading all of our timelines—if we were taking the opportunity to actually tweet.

Early in the game, there was the whole crazy scenario involving Browns safety Ronnie Harrison getting disqualified (read: ejected) for shoving Chiefs assistant coach Greg Lewis.

From there came the thrill of watching Mahomes work his magic to keep the Chiefs in stride (or striking distance) with the Browns. If it were kosher, I’d claim him with the same sort of love and affection but I don’t want to sound too unprofessional online with my man crush.

For a long stretch, this was the most important sentiment of the game as Chiefs fans waited for the defense to offer up any level of resistance to what the Browns wanted to do.

Then came the beginning of the comeback in a second half that was tipped toward the home team.

The defense ended up hearing Brittany and responding according. That’s what you do when your QB1’s love asks you for a favor.

And of course, in the end, we all act like we were calm, cool, and collected all along.

We feel you, Brittany. We feel you.
