By the time early evening rolled around on Monday, the K.C. Chiefs have gotten through approximately half of the roster cuts needed to get down to the NFL’s requirement of 53 players by Tuesday late afternoon.

So far there has not been any big surprises, but that’s to be expected since the Chiefs are likely trying to shop any and all players with trade value. They also might be working on a deal to bring in someone if they believe that they can pry away someone of value.

Darwin Thompson was likely the biggest “name” player cut so far, but he could resurface on the team’s practice squad if he makes it through waivers. The same can be said for rookie free agent defensive back Devon Key and others.

On the latest episode of the Arrowhead Addict podcast, Sterling Holmes and Matt Conner discuss the earliest Chiefs roster cuts so far as well as what to expect on Tuesday in the final hours leading up to the deadline. In addition, trade winds that blew on Monday mentioned Laurent Duvernay-Tardif’s name although it’s not straightforward if the Chiefs want to deal LDT.

Will the Chiefs work out a trade? Will there be any real surprises at roster cuts? We discuss all this and more on the latest AA podcast episode.
