Cornerbacks

In: L’Jarius Sneed, Deandre Baker, Mike Hughes, Charvarius Ward, Rashad Fenton, BoPete Keyes
Out: DiCaprio Bootle, Marlon Character, Chris Lammons

There is a chance that somehow this section of the defense falls apart—or at least is exposed in some way due to their collective youth and inexperience. However, we believe just the opposite is going to happen.

As of now, few people on a national level are talking about the Chiefs secondary. However, L’Jarius Sneed is a game-changing talent who can play inside or outside. Charvarius Ward has looked good outside before and is motivated in a contract year in ’21.

Mike Hughes has looked very good as the newest addition here, especially in the return game, and Deandre Baker is a fellow former first-round pick who has excelled with the Chiefs defense. Together, they raise the ceiling of what is possible this year if they can follow through.

Rashad Fenton is a nice young player who can provide quality reps as a pass defender and special teams player and we’re intrigued to also see how BoPete Keyes can develop with another season.

While Bootle showed up stronger than others in the preseason, there are no big surprises here. Just a great young unit of corners ready to play.
