Podcast: Predicting who will make KC Chiefs final regular season roster
By Matt Conner
There are only a few more days for players on each and every NFL franchise to make their presence felt and earn the trust of coaches—anything they can do to change the minds of decision makers for the sake of making an active roster for the 2021 season.
The K.C. Chiefs have already narrowed it down to 80 total players, as has everyone else, and Brett Veach and his staff will make the final calls on the rest next Tuesday.
As the NFL pares down from 80 to 53 players on each roster by month’s end, it felt like the right time for Arrowhead Addict podcasts hosts Patrick Allen and Matt Verderame to tackle the question of who is in and who is out.
Some position groups are easier calls than others, but Verderame and Allen engaged the tough questions at deeper positions such as the offensive line and defensive lines where there are good players—perhaps even starters on other teams—who could potentially lose their jobs due to being crowded out by too much talent.
Alongside roster predictions, Verderame and Allen also take a look at preseason predictions and the importance of the early part of the schedule. The Cleveland Browns present the first real challenge of the season from the outset. Verderame discusses the reasons why it’s in the Chiefs best interest to come out swinging since it will set the tone for the rest of the year, especially as the schedule is front-loaded.
