The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Minnesota Vikings on Friday. We’ve got a prediction plus the odds, injury report, live stream, and TV info for you.

The K.C. Chiefs came out this offseason with the hopes of going 20-0 in the regular and postseason, as initially stated by quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The preseason dominoes are already falling for the Chiefs as they enjoyed an impressive victory over the Arizona Cardinals last Friday to go to 2-0 in the (meaningless) preseason.

Far more important than the undefeated preseason record for the Chiefs is the way they’re playing on both sides of the ball. The Chiefs are already inflicting their will on the opposition at the line of scrimmage. They’re also staying relatively healthy, looking solid in offseason areas of concern, and look very deep with emerging young talent making it difficult for the team to make roster cuts.

The Chiefs will face their final preseason test on Friday with the Minnesota Vikings coming to Arrowhead Stadium for the lone preseason contest at home for the Kansas City. More than a victory, the Chiefs are hoping that similar themes of performance and health remain positive as they enter the regular season against the Cleveland Browns.

Vikings vs. Chiefs Odds Preseason Week 3

Per WynnBET, the Chiefs are currently favored by 3.5 points, which seems like an obvious bet to take considering they’re also at home. The Chiefs have made it clear in public remarks that the starters won’t be playing on Friday, but the team is so deep that even their backups should make a nice game of it against the second and third stringers likely to play from Minnesota.

Chiefs Injury Report vs Vikings Preseason Week 3

Just like the Chiefs, the Vikings are unlikely to play their starters in this week’s matchup. That means that the Vikes’ decision to rest receivers like Justin Jefferson and Dede Westbrook last week will likely carry over to Friday’s preseason closer against the Chiefs. It also likely means others who’ve been ailing for Minnesota—including linebacker Anthony Barr and offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw—will be given further time to recuperate.

As for the Chiefs, the idea of playing Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Darrel Williams in a meaningless preseason game makes little sense when both were hurt following the game against the Cardinals. Expect Andy Reid to hold them out, which means big opportunities for Darwin Thompson and Derrick Gore in particular to showcase what they can do out of the backfield for K.C.

Tyreek Hill Injury Update

The Chiefs held out Tyreek Hill from the previous preseason game against the Cardinals as a last-minute change when a lingering hamstring seized up again during warm-ups. Even fellow players like Mecole Hardman said they learned that head coach Andy Reid was holding out Hill at kickoff, so the shift was a shock to everyone.

Given that Reid is unlikely to play any starters, Hill will have nearly a month to rest his hamstring before facing the Browns secondary in Week 1 of the regular season. That also means that Vikings corners won’t have to worry quite as much as being stretched on Friday both vertically and from one sideline to another.

Vikings vs Chiefs Prediction Preseason Week 3

Given the depth shown by the Chiefs, it makes sense to go with Kansas City here even though they won’t be playing any starters. If the Vikings are going to surprise us and keep their biggest names in the picture, then that’s an obvious choice, but we expect fringe roster players to dominate this competition, which means the deepest team should win. We’ll go with K.C. here by a final score: Chiefs 15, Vikings 10.
