The K.C. Chiefs have two of their three preseason games in the books, and fans are starting to get a better feel for how this team is coming together.

In Friday night’s 17-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals, several starting caliber players got extended playing time in the first half. As we look at how things went in that game, combined with what we saw in the preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers, we can start to get a better idea of how this team is looking with the regular season now only a couple weeks away.

The preseason can sometimes be difficult to evaluate. How much of what we see will translate to regular season games? One team may be using their starters and trying to get them in a rhythm while another may be evaluating backups to see who should make the team. One franchise may be trying out schemes and play calls that they will use in the regular season while another may be keeping things very “vanilla” to not give away any secrets and to force players to make something happen on their own.

After taking a closer look at the first two preseason games, I have come away with what I feel like are the three most important developments that will have an effect on the regular season. However, you will find that even within these takeaways, I still have more questions.

Speaking of questions, let’s kick things off with my one development that isn’t a positive and is chock-full of questions.
