Former K.C. Chiefs defensive back Alex Brown is facing four charges in Wayne County, Michigan, the site of a car accident in which Brown was allegedly driving while intoxicated and caused injuries to two persons.

The Wayne County prosecutor’s office alleges that Brown was speeding while driving on the wrong side of the interstate when his car hit another “early Sunday morning.” The driver of the other car sought medical attention for leg injuries after being hit head-on, while Brown’s own former teammate, tight end Charlie Taumoepeau, was also injured while riding in the passenger seat.

Per ESPN’s Eric Woodyard, Brown is set for his arraignment on Tuesday.

Former Chiefs DB Alex Brown is facing four charges for driving while intoxicated.

Brown was signed by the Detroit Lions earlier this spring after the 2021 NFL Draft was concluded. However, the team made quick work of his roster status by releasing him on Sunday, the same day as the alleged incident.

After initially entering the National Football League as a rookie free agent out of South Carolina State with the San Francisco 49ers, Brown was able to earn short looks from multiple teams in hopes of landing a real opportunity to develop on a roster. The New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles took flyers on him before he found a place to stay with the Chiefs in 2019 and 2020.

Brett Veach signed Brown after the Jets released him shortly before the 2019 season started and he was activated in December and played very sparingly (mostly special teams) in the final three games of the season. Brown was then brought back on a reserve/futures deal in 2020, but he tore his ACL in August and was sidelined for the season.
