If you’re like the rest of us in Chiefs Kingdom, you’ve had July 23 circled on your calendar for quite some time. It’s the very first day that players are set to report to training camp, which for the K.C. Chiefs means that we’re going to see some of our favorite players arriving at St. Joseph, Missouri. We’re also likely to hear from some of the team’s players and coaches as they settle in for the beginning of the preseason.

Some teams have already begun training camp, and the Chiefs are now set to join them with some players arriving early. The ones showing up today in St. Joe include quarterbacks, rookies, and injured players. That means Patrick Mahomes, Chad Henne and company will get the quarterback room situated and begin to plot out their preseason training.

Some players report to St. Joseph for Chiefs training camp today.

Elsewhere, it will be fun to see how rookies are continuing to absorb the information thrown at them and how they’re adjusting to life in the professional ranks. Will the Chiefs give Creed Humphrey looks with the first team along the offensive line? How will Nick Bolton look in pads for the Chiefs? Will Josh Kaindoh show flashes of potential at a position that could use someone to step up along the edge? How will Cornell Powell and Noah Gray look catching passes from Mahomes and others?

The rest of the Chiefs stars won’t show up until next Tuesday, so we’ll likely have a pretty quiet weekend in terms of news, but the Chiefs should be giving updates on injured players as they return. Mahomes will undoubtedly be asked about his turf toe injury despite the fact he’s given many offseason updates. Important updates to watch will be for Willie Gay Jr. (torn meniscus), Deandre Baker (broken leg) and Taco Charlton (fractured ankle).

The first open practice for the public comes next Thursday, July 29. Details can be found here.
