No one ever wants to need a lawyer, but it always helps to have one around.

For us at Arrowhead Addict, it’s not only been a bonus to have contributing writer Ellen Mathis around for her wonderful personality and excellent writing skills, but it’s also helped that Ellen is a lawyer based in the K.C. area. Given the fact that someone on the K.C. Chiefs seems to get into some sort of legal trouble/drama every offseason, Ellen’s been quite generous in offering her expertise to readers.

For this week’s Arrowhead Addict podcast, we made up for lost time by having Ellen on the show to discuss several topics, including the team’s recent re-signing of Alex Okafor at defensive end for a third season with the team. Okafor provides a bit of security and consistency—a known quantity—in the face of questions at the position, especially with Frank Clark’s legal issues still clouding the picture.

Speaking of Clark, Ellen explained the legal process ahead of the Chiefs defensive end and why she expects him to play every game of the 2021 season. In addition, we touch base on what we know about Britt Reid’s legal process and what’s next there as well. In the end, we play a Chiefs-related round of “Would You Rather?” to bring a bit of levity to the show.
