Rashad Fenton, CB

Rashard Fenton is the Byron Pringle of the Chiefs defense. Every time he gets an opportunity he does well, but yet he never seems to be on the field.

Fenton was a late round pick in 2019 by the Chiefs and made a impact in his first season with the Chiefs. I still remember this past season saying to my dad while watching the Chiefs game saying, “Why doesn’t Spags play Fenton? He did good for us last season!” It was on the very next play against the Patriots that Fenton made a play on the ball for an interception.

Fenton showed himself to be a good nickel option for the Chiefs, but the team might want to see L’Jarius Sneed back in that role after he excelled in the middle. The Chiefs also brought in free agent Will Parks for some competition in free agency. The Chiefs also traded for former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Mike Hughes, and slot corner is a likely landing spot for him as well.

Fenton could also be a viable option in a safety role with his incredible ball skills and vision of the field. Tyrann Mathieu , Daniel Sorenson, and Juan Thornhill are all in play there. However, Fenton could become another safety over the top in the right sub packages.
