Evan Baylis, TE

Credit Evan Baylis for keeping his head up and pursuing his dream despite the hurdles in front of him. So far, after going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, Baylis has played for a total of six NFL franchises with the Chiefs being the most recent stop. Given how crowded the offense is, it’s hard to believe Baylis is going to be able to crack this roster.

The Chiefs signed Baylis back in January after watching him at a tryout during the postseason. Several players were signed from that tryout of a handful of players and Baylis was one of them. He inked a deal then and was re-signed to a futures deal after the playoffs in order to keep him around for the entire offseason.

Baylis entered the league as a rarely used target in Oregon’s offense, with only 44 catches for 511 yards and 3 touchdowns in four years. Where he could make his mark, however, is on special teams as a blocker and favorite of Dave Toub if he can earn his attention.

So far, Baylis has been a footnote for fans of the Texans, Colts, Panthers, Packers, and Cardinals, which means you’re likely to forget about Baylis again soon enough. But if anyone wanted to call a minor upset for roster projections, it could be that Baylis could beat out Blake Bell for some sort of blocking tight end role if he is somehow able to edge the competition.
