2. Green Bay Packers

The Packers have had a rough few weeks with the news of Aaron Rodgers possibly seeking a trade out of Green Bay. So, let’s give Packers’ fans something to be happy about with ranking the offensive line as the second best unit in the league. Green Bay has always been an organization that builds a strong and formidable offensive line.

The Packers’ front line is led by veteran left tackle David Bakhtiari, who suffered a torn ACL late last season. Bakhtiari’s presence was greatly missed against Tampa Bay in the NFC title game. Nonetheless, Green Bay will be entering the 2021 NFL season with what should be a very strong offensive line. Bakhtiari’s 2020 season was very impressive, despite the fact that during the season the eight-year veteran suffered broken ribs. He still managed to earn All-Pro honors. In fact, Bakhtiari’s play in 2020 was better than his efforts in 2019. According to Sports Illustrated’s Bill Huber

"“Pro Football Focus charged him with one sack and nine total pressures compared to two sacks and 37 total pressures in 2019. Bakhtiari allowed a pressure on 2.02 percent of passing plays this past season compared to 4.86 percent in 2019. Among offensive tackles, he ranked second in PFF’s pass-blocking efficiency, which measures sacks, hits and hurries per pass-protecting snap.”"

Left guard Elgton Jenkins repeated his stellar rookie season with another strong performance in 2020. No one on the Packers’ offensive line had to adapt more than Jenkins. Due to injuries and other circumstances, Jenkins would play at least 25 snaps at left guard, center, left tackle, and right tackle last season. Despite all the movement to multiple positions, Jenkins graded at an above-average level. Bakhtiari should be ready for week one of the 2021 season, allowing Jenkins to play at his natural left guard position.

After losing Corey Linsley in free agency to the Chargers, Green Bay addressed the center position through the draft when they drafted Josh Myers out of Ohio State. There seems to be a connection with Ohio State centers and Green Bay, as Linsley is also a former Buckeye. Myers should be the starting center for the Packers in Week 1 and has the ability to step in and make a monumental difference for Green Bay.

The combination of Lucas Patrick and Billy Turner is not as formidable as the Bakhtiari-Jenkins duo, but they still form a solid right side of the line. This unit is one of the most complete offensive line groups in the league, and it should be another dominant season for the Packers’ run game.

Projected Starting Offensive Line:

  • LT – David Bakhtiari
  • LG – Elgton Jenkins
  • C – Josh Myers
  • RG – Lucas Patrick
  • RT – Billy Turner
