The K.C. Chiefs have announced a series of roster moves on Monday to alter the depth chart at multiple positions, although none of the transactions are going to move the meter much for fans.

On Monday, the Chiefs made the previously reported signing of wide receiver Daurice Fountain official along with the addition of defensive Manny Patterson. In order to make room for them on the 90-man offseason roster, the team decided to release former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Tajae Sharpe and defensive back Jaylon McClain-Sapp, who recently landed a spot on the roster to begin with.

We’ve already discussed the addition of Fountain in more depth elsewhere, but it’s worth noting that he’s heading into his fourth year as a pro after alternating between the active roster and practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts since 2018. He was their fifth round pick that year in the draft.

Here’s a roundup of the latest roster moves for the K.C. Chiefs.

As for Patterson, he was a tryout player at the team’s recent minicamp and the second prospect, along with Fountain, to earn a roster spot in the process. Patterson clearly turned heads enough to bump McClain-Sapp from the mix and head into further offseason training activities to compete when the veterans arrive. Patterson earned previous looks from the Washington Football Team and Houston Texans, per Charles Goldman of Chiefs Wire, after finishing his career with the University of Maine back in 2019.

The release of Sharpe is a bit surprising for some fans who expected him to carry some weight on the roster as a candidate with extensive NFL experience compared to other roster hopefuls. In 51 NFL games, Sharpe has caught 92 passes for 1,167 receiving yards and 8 scores.

Speaking of the Titans, they also signed a former Chiefs receiver in Kalija Lipscomb, who gets a chance to play in Nashville once again after starring at Vanderbilt during his college career. The Titans signed him after he excelled in rookie minicamp as a tryout player himself. Lipscomb was an undrafted free agent signing for the Chiefs last year.
