Round 6, Pick 226 – Tennessee G Trey Smith

An absolute unit. A massive human being with the ability to punish guys on the defensive line, Smith brings the ability to move guys and gives running backs the chance to pick up tough yards. A blood clot concern dropped his stock like a rock as he has 3rd round talent that the Chiefs picked up in the 6th. As far as value picks go, this takes the cake.

Smith will need to show a clean bill of health, but if he does, the rest of the NFL needs to watch out. A dude this size, this intense, and this talented will be a stalwart on this Chiefs line for a long time. To potentially get a long-term starter for a 6th round draft pick is incredible.

Draft Need – D+
After all of the additions at line, the Chiefs didn’t really have a need, but the talent was too undeniable to pick up. The Chiefs are overflowing now at interior offensive line. A good problem to have.

Immediate Production – D
A crowded interior offensive line will be tough for him to crack this year, but make no mistake, Smith will be a future anchor.

Potential – A-
I think you already know what I think of the potential, future long term starter.

Overall – A

Next. Returning to Andy Reid's vintage offensive ways. dark
