Cornell Powell – WR – Clemson – Round 5 – Pick 181

I’ll admit, I love this pick. A couple of weeks ago I put Powell as one of the 5th round pick options on my Multiple Choice Mock Draft. I wasn’t sure if he’d be there or not, but I couldn’t be happier that it worked out for K.C. Powell has the size to play on the outside opposite Tyreek Hill. While he doesn’t have elite speed or quickness, he does run really nice routes, has good hands and solid tracking ability to go up and win jump balls, and runs hard after the catch. He’ll be a great special teams player early on, and if he can learn the playbook and earn both Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes‘ trust, he could have starting #2 wideout upside.

There weren’t any players left on the board at this point that I feel like you can argue would have been a much better value than Powell (other than maybe their next pick). He may not have the upside of a true number one receiver, but I love the Powell pick and think that he’ll earn his way onto the field if given a chance.
