Joshua Kaindoh – DE – Florida State – Round 4 – Pick 144

This one is pretty simple for me. Joshua Kaindoh probably has the highest upside of almost anyone they could have taken with the last pick of the fourth round. He also probably has the highest bust potential of any of the Chiefs draft picks. So the question you have to ask yourself with this pick is are you okay with risking a bust on a player with this kind of upside at the end of the fourth round? If you are, this is a great pick. If you aren’t, then you may not like it.

Kaindoh has exactly the length and athleticism that Steve Spagnuolo covets in his defensive ends. He has the traits to be an elite player, but his college tape is a mess. Florida State is developing a reputation for not coaching up their players and getting the most out of them, so maybe the Chiefs just need to show him what to do. Then again, maybe he’s just a sloppy player that will never make the most of his natural skills.

Either way, I wouldn’t expect Kaindoh to have an immediate impact and help fix the lack of pass rush on the outside right away. He’s going to need time to develop. I was also targeting Brevin Jordan and a couple of receivers with this pick, but I don’t think you can fault taking this kind of upside with pick 144.

Next up, the Chiefs traded up for a tight end. Was it the right move?
