Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State

Kansas City already filled their most glaring hole this offseason with the acquisition of Orlando Brown Jr. at left tackle, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look to add another one anyway.

The Chiefs need only to look as far back as last season to see the troubles an injury-laden offensive line can cause, and having some depth would surely provide security and insurance. If that is the path Kansas City goes down, Teven Jenkins is a great option.

At this point, it is a bit of a surprise that Jenkins is even still available in the second round. Fortunately the Chiefs could jump at the chance to grab him. At 6’6 and 320 pounds, he is a huge human being, and Jenkins has received high praise for his impressive strength. Able to play both tackle or guard, Jenkins is the top-rated tackle remaining heading into the second round, and the fourth overall according to Kiper big board.

Jenkins’ pass blocking numbers will be mighty appealing to the Chiefs. In his last two seasons he did not allow a single sack, and he allowed pressure on just 0.9% of his 623 pass-blocking snaps, the fourth-best among FBS right tackles. PFF gave Jenkins a season grade of 92.0 in 2020, third among all tackles.

Playing against a lack of quality talent in the Big 12 may have hurt his stock a little, and at 23, Jenkins’ age might make it easier to look stronger against younger college talent. However his fall in the draft could become a bonus for the Chiefs.
